July 2020 Shalom, Dear Watcher on the Walls, The heat is on as we are now deep into the summer months. The kids are out of school here in Israel as the pandemic is still in our face, however the biblical work of Abundant Bread of Salvation continues to increase in the power and glory of Messiah Yeshua! Nahum 1:7 says, "The Lord is good, a REFUGE in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him." This is a summer that the whole world has never experienced. Be at rest, be at peace, because our hope is in Him wherever we dwell. As our world deals with the effects of this pandemic, many more families in Israel are falling under the poverty line. The jobs that normally provide employment for hundreds of thousands of low-wage workers remain shut down or severely restricted. We at Abundant Bread of Salvation are proud to also reach out to those who are in such extreme poverty so much so, that they have become homeless and fallen into drug and alcoholic addiction.  We are happy to say there is a local Bible-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation center here in our city of Netanya. It is minutes from our outreach center. We help them on a monthly basis with food bags (roughly $400 U.S dollars worth of food every two months) and prayer, and we work together to bless these dear forgotten, homeless brothers to show them that they do have the power to overcome with the strength of the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh), as they grow in Yeshua (Jesus). Many times, I am able to share my own testimony of how Yeshua delivered me from a life of addiction and give them sound counseling from my experience. Rehabilitation Center Netanya 2020 The poverty in Israel was dire prior to this pandemic crisis and it has only gotten worse. With the announced cuts to welfare programs and the continuing economic crisis, it's become clear that Abundant Bread of Salvation and other nonprofits will have to fill the vacuum where government welfare cannot. This has also created a huge mental health crisis. Thank God I was trained to be a psychiatric mental health nurse many years ago. Weekly, we also go out to personally visit Holocaust survivors, widows and single mothers in their homes or outside in the open air to offer prayer, support, and encouragement. Many times, they simply hold our hands with tears in their eyes and say, "What would we do without you?" or "You are family to us."  Praise Adonai Yeshua that we are His hands and feet bringing the Good News, practical help and comfort to Zion! Since April, over 1.12 million people - 27.5% of the Israeli workforce - have submitted applications for unemployment. Extending unemployment eligibility until the end of August for all job seekers would cost the State of Israel a total of 3.3 billion shekels ($960 million in US dollars)! Many families have not been able to receive the above benefits because of tighter restrictions under the COVID-19 resources being stretched to the limit. As we write this newsletter, Israel is heading into a second, full closure because of the coronavirus. Our Jewish people need your help like never before. Abundant Bread of Salvation is the perfect fit to do just that as we focus both on the practical and the spiritual help, all at the same time. The City of Netanya where we are based allows us to function to give practical help, even during these most challenging times. Hallelujah! In Proverbs 3:27 it says, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so." Second Corinthians 1:3-5 says, "Praise be to God, Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, compassionate Father, God of all encouragement and comfort who encourages us in all our trials so that we can encourage others in whatever trials they may be undergoing with the encouragement we ourselves have received from God. For just as the Messiah's sufferings overflow into us, so through the Messiah our encouragement also overflows." We at Abundant Bread of Salvation desire this overflow in you and through you. You are His workmanship created for good works in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus). "Peaceful Protest in America" Since writing last month, the world has changed even more with the civil unrest, protests, looting and violence connected to the murder of George Floyd. May he rest in peace. This national tragedy sadly has also caused a terrible increase in antisemitism against our Jewish people, their stores, their synagogues and communities that the media has chosen to give very little coverage. May we take this opportunity, to encourage all people of Jewish ancestry to pray and consider greatly making Aliyah to your Jewish Homeland. This land is the safest and your covenant land, to dwell in richly. If you're not of Jewish ancestry, please pray for our Jewish people to fulfill God's prophetic word (Isaiah 43:5-6), in returning to the Jewish homeland, Israel.  Baruch Ha Ba-Blessed is He who comes! We continue to serve over 400 poor and needy and Holocaust survivors every week with their food bags as they now have come back to our outreach center with their masks on, keeping social distancing and filling their carts with food and the blessings of Messiah Yeshua. We are also happy to announce that today as I write, we are having our first simple return soup kitchen with all the leaders of our local Holocaust survivor organization in the garden of our ministry home.   They will receive first class treatment with a five-star salmon meal. The above and below pictures are Precious Survivors entering the ministry house garden, eating an elegant soup kitchen meal and enjoying afterglow fellowship together after three months of lock down quarantine. They were so excited to finally see each other that many of them had tears in their eyes when they shared their appreciation of what we did for them. In addition, our dear local friend and supporter, Messianic musician Carolyn Hyde is coming from The Galilee to bless our people with lively eternal music.  Of course,  getting our dear ones out of their chairs to dance in freedom as most of them have literally not been out of their homes in three long months. Another one of our regular outreaches that we are honored and proud of is, our practical help of the Ethiopian Jewish Community. A majority of these precious souls that have come so far from their distant land to Israel to try and make a better life, still struggle to put food on their table and many times choose between food and medications. These last couple of months on lock down, we have been able to continue our fellowship with the saints on zoom video, which is based in Jerusalem. It was amazing to see believers come together in unity to study God's Word and experience times of worship. Believers have joined us from the nations, which included the U.S.A., Kenya, England/UK, Germany, Portugal and Uganda. It says in Psalm 133:1 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" The times we are living in are more of Biblical proportions than ever before, thus the need to be in unity. We do look forward to getting back to fellowship face-to-face. In 1 Thessalonians 5:3 it says, "While people are saying, peace and safety, destruction will come on them suddenly as labor pains on a pregnant woman and there will be no escape." We are so blessed to know our Redeemer lives and we shall all live with Him in eternity who know Him personally. It is also known as "First Fruits" or the "Giving of the Torah" as spoken about in Exodus 34:22 and in Deuteronomy 16:10 as a "Festival of Reaping." Message from Joshua Aaron below, (used with his permission from this past Holocaust Memorial Day newsletter) Shabbat Shalom Chaverim (friends), I hope you are all doing well and weathering this storm comfortably with your families. This past Wednesday was  Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) here in Israel.  This is a sad day for many of our Jewish families who have lost family due to the horrors of the Nazi holocaust.  My great grandparents were also victims of this terrible slaughter of 6 million Jews.  The song above  "Bring Us Back" I composed (to Psalm 137) in their memory and in the memory of all who have perished.  It was a blessed time recording this song Live at the Tower of David and having  35  Holocaust Survivors join us that night. Unforgettable! Due to the quarantine, no one (including the Holocaust Survivors) was allowed to gather together like we usually do, instead people lit candles and placed them on their porches and in their windows.  There was also a siren that rung throughout Israel in a moment of silence in their memory.
